My name is Teresa Shelton Bright, as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, I have often found it hard to explain to people how I felt. My tongue and brain would suddenly go out to lunch leaving me struggling for the right words to say. My heart could feel someone's pain, happiness and love but my mouth would betray me. So, I usually said nothing at all or what I said would come out wrong. My writing became a way of communicating, a way to tell people how I really felt. With pen and paper as my tools, I could share my thoughts and feelings. I later began framing poetry for family and friends. Thanks to my husband, Gary Bright and our friends, Pat and Dewey Feezel (who exhibited my work in their stores) I was encouraged to display my framed art/poetry. I was proud to see the simple words that God put in my heart, bring a smile to a loved one's face. It seems that we all get caught up in our busy lives and often don't tell the people we love what they truly mean to us. Or if we do tell them it is on a telephone or during a brief conversation. When the words are on paper they can be reread time and time again. A lift up, when we feel like we failed. A smile of remembrance when we think that no one cares. And words of encouragement and faith when an illness or tragedy enters our life and turns our world upside down. A written word is not a thought in passing but a true treasure that can be cherished time and time again. E-mail: Teresa Shelton Brigth teresabright@aol.com
